What On Earth Do I Do Next?
Now that you have finished the onboarding, let's dive into the next few steps that could help you in your relationship with your first client.
We've included them below for your review :)
Step 1: Make sure the client is on the same page as you
Getting your client on the same page is as simple as having clear communication. When starting a task with clients, try to get them involved, share ideas, go over any briefs or documents needed, ask questions and set expectations, and be as clear as possible with your clients so they know how the task or project will go.
It is also highly recommended to document and take notes all the intructions of your Rabbi/client to make sure you don't miss any and avoid task revisions. When you document instructions about your tasks, you’re able to review what went right or wrong with the task later.
Step 2: Establish communication guidelines with the client
Clear lines of communication help you and the client work better together and stay on the same page. You may want to consider mapping out how you will work together using tools like Asana, Trello, and Slack. Always be transparent and consider setting a time frame for every task you do to keep everyone on the same page in terms of expectations and to stay on top of work, and work in a more productive way.
Step 3: Start out slow but be on your A game!
Don't rush to start working on the task right away. Start slow to go fast.
While it can be easy to get carried away and jump into things, it is very important to take the time to do some thinking and planning things out to have a smooth and better work flow. Make sure you and the client are on the same page and you have everything you need to start working on the task. If you got a huge project/task from your rabbi, break it down into smaller chunks to make it more manageable.
Get a good warm-up, start slow, accelerate, and be on your A game. The quality of work improves when you start more relaxed which leads to finishing the task faster.
